Attitude with Altitude
These homeowners in Stevenson Ranch, California, were seeking a backyard design that was the perfect compliment to their home. It was important to visually extend their existing interior living space to a complete outdoor environment. The Pools was to serve as a focal point to the back yard, but the homeowners also wanted to view it from every room in the home. Engineering requirements were a bit excessive as the house sits on the edge of a 150-foot slope with a valley floor several hundred feet below. However, GI Construction Inc. developed a detailed plan that met every expectation that the homeowners had. The Design/Build team installed a waterway canal that extended from the covered spa to the pool. The project included the construction of a 500-square-foot villa, which houses a spa with a submersible fountain. The villa also features a 16-foot stone wood-burning fireplace with a built in plasma-TV. At the opposite end of the pool sits a covered swim-up bar with Tuscan columns. It features a retractible awning, and an 8-foot copper water cascade that pours into the pool. The project also included two gas-burning fire pits, an outdoor gas heater, 200 square feet of Italian glass tile, and a tumbled-brick deck.
